Back pains are bothersome. It can alter your daily activities and hinder you from being productive during the course of day. It is an uneasy feeling over your whole back or just certain parts. It may be associated with a certain disease or underlying medical condition related to the spine or as a result from fatigue and muscle spasms. When experiencing back pains there are certain treatments done to relieve you of this. However, careful diagnosis of what the problem is must be done first to ensure efficiency of the treatment that will be given.
Let us first discuss how back pains occur. Back pains result from the compression of certain nerve endings of the spinal cord or nerves in the body. The pain receptors of the nerve endings around the body, in particular the back, send a signal to the brain via the spinal cord and in turn interpret this as pain. In addition, another type of pain sensation is when the nerve endings of the spinal cord are being compressed which may be due to certain medical conditions or bone deformities. An example of a medical condition is a spinal cord hernia, wherein the spinal cord slips outside the vertebra or the bone. In addition, an example of a bone deformity of the spine is scoliosis. It is the abnormal curvature of the spine side wards, it is either to the left or to the right and in some cases it can happen both ways.
